Flew with my father yesterday who is a Flight Instructor. He went and picked up my wife on Friday who got a summer job that’s 4 hours away by car. It’s only an hour and a half by plane. It was a lot of fun. I flew for a little bit. Really enjoyed it. We were flying in a Piper Archer III. I felt a little cramped in there and I am 6ft but also work out was still a blast

Also saw and HEARD a Piper Meridian. So cool

The prop synced up with my phone’s frame rate and looked like it wasn’t turning at all. Pretty cool.

I’m jealous! You’ll have to ask your dad if he prefers Pipers or Cessnas for training. It seems to be a hot topic in the classroom. As far as I can see, e ach has advantages and disadvantages, so it all comes down to personal preference.

I should start flying later this month. I’m excited about it.

I asked, he doesn’t really care. He says the Piper is faster and is less likely to spin in a stall but other than that he doesn’t care. Sorry if that doesn't help lol.

If you don't mind what is this costing you? A small plane license is on Mrs. Blackcar's bucket list and I have no idea how any of it works or costs.

Budget somewhere around $10k for a private pilot’s license, a bit less for a sport pilot. The difference between the two is when and where you can fly. Sport pilots are restricted to daytime flying only .

The AOPA estimate is a bit low at $7k. https://www.aopa.org/training-and-safety/learn-to-fly

The cost will vary by location too. Private pilots have to have a minimum of 40 hours of flight before they can take the FAA exam, half of which must be with an instructor. Planes in Houston rent at $94/hr and up. Most students opt for the ones that cost around $130/hr. Instructors cost $57/hr. While you can get a license in 40 hours, national average is around 65 hours.

I pulled a random school there in Illinois. Yep, about $10k.

Awesome, thank you.

I am going to have to start looking into this once I find a job.
